Built to be checked, not just trusted
- Official tables, line by line. Federal withholding follows IRS Publication 15-T (2026) and California uses the EDD's exact-calculation Method B — the same math payroll software runs.
- Tested against the source. Every IRS wage-bracket value and every EDD worked example we could find is a regression test that must pass before we publish.
- Everything you need, nothing you don't. Overtime, double time, W-4 Step 2, DE 4 allowances, 401(k), HSA and the Social Security cap — no account, no ads inside the calculator.
- Private by design. The math runs in your browser. Your salary is never sent to us.

Frequently asked questions
How is take-home pay calculated?+
Start with gross pay, subtract pre-tax deductions such as a traditional 401(k) and health premiums, then subtract federal income tax withholding, Social Security (6.2%), Medicare (1.45%) and any state income or payroll taxes. What's left, after any after-tax deductions, is your net pay.
Which states have no income tax?+
Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire (wages), South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming don't tax wages. Washington does withhold WA Cares and paid-leave premiums.
Why doesn't my paycheck match exactly?+
Payroll systems may round differently, and benefits, year-to-date wages or W-4 settings you didn't enter all change the result. The difference should be a few dollars at most.
Is my data stored?+
No. All calculations happen in your browser. The share link puts your inputs in the URL only if you choose to copy it.
